What a pleasure it’s been to continue our work on gender budgeting in Jordan, supported by AFD and implemented by UN Women. Jordan has been engaged in Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) for quite some time, and significant progress has already been made. The team, led by Mancala Consultores and including Elias Gonzalo, Maja Bosnic, Abeer, and Aida, had a series of productive meetings with the General Budget Department, UN Women, the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNWC), line ministries, and various other partners.
Over the course of our five-day visit, we were welcomed with the kind of hospitality that only Jordan can offer. We had the chance to indulge in some of the country’s best cuisine—starting with Sambusek and then Mansaf, a traditional dish featuring tender lamb cooked in a rich yogurt sauce and served over rice.
