Strengthening Municipal Income Sources in El Salvador

This project aimed to carry out a diagnosis and proposals for the improvement and/or modernisation of municipal public finances in El Salvador, including proposals for laws or adjustments to existing laws. Among the issues addressed were: own revenues; cadastre; intergovernmental fiscal transfer regime; tax administration; and municipal public debt.

The project prioritised thirteen municipalities in the country: San Salvador, Ciudad Delgado, Santa Ana, Mejicanos, Sensuntepeque, San Miguel, Chalatenango, Ciudad Barrios, Chirilagua, Ahuachapán, San Pedro Perulapán and Sonsonate.
