The project aims to strengthen the capacity of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to manage climate risks and natural disasters, focusing on disaster risk reduction (DRR) following recent devastating floods. Led by the French Development Agency (AFD), the initiative seeks to fund key sectors like water, sanitation, irrigation, and early warning systems through a Budget Support Program Loan (PrBL). It emphasizes gender-responsive strategies, updating disaster management plans, and enhancing institutional capacities for a climate-resilient economy.
Mancala’s role involves a three-phase feasibility study: i) Program review and due diligence, including stakeholder mapping and expenditure review; ii) Preparation of the Program Budget Support, including frameworks and a Gender Action Plan; iii) Support for launching the PBS, including an Operations Manual and Action Plan.
